Staff Sergeant Clement D. Dowler, 20 who has been missing in action since April 28, writes his parents that he is safe and well and looking forward to coming home soon. Missing in a bomber flight over France last spring, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Dowler of Route 5 had received no further word from him until an airmail letter written by Sergeant Dowler September 3 was received. Young Dowler served as a gunner on a B-17. His letter tells his family that he is in the  best of health and will be home soon. He says he is somewhere in Europe but unable to reveal his location at present and as yet he has no mailing address. Sgt. Dowler has two brothers in service, Sgt. Weldon Dowler in France and Marvin Dowler, Jr., apprentice seaman in training with the Navy at Sampson, New York. 1944

The meeting of all electric shop employees was held on august 1 for the purpose for discussing an electrical accident which accrued recently in the corporation. The meeting was presided over by Joe Rothwell, Electric Shop Foreman, who reviewed the details of the accident and explained what action is being taken to correct the conditions causing it. During the meeting Foreman Bob Peterman led a very interesting discussion regarding the correct procedure to be followed and the safety equipment to be used while pulling fuses. 1944
